Tom Lambrecht Appointed Interim Secretary

The Transitional Book of Doctrines and Discipline, in paragraph 605.2, states that the Transitional Leadership Council (TLC) must appoint an interim secretary for the convening general conference. This interim secretary will then be nominated to serve as the official secretary during the opening session of the conference.

The TLC has appointed Tom Lambrecht as the interim secretary of the convening general conference. During the opening session, the TLC will formally nominate him to continue in this role.

Tom is an elder in the Trinity Provisional Annual Conference and has served as a member of the Transitional Commission on the Convening General Conference. In that role, he has chaired the Legislative Process working group. He also chaired the five-member Petitions Committee that reviewed the initial determination made by the Petitions Secretary with respect to all petitions pending before the convening General Conference. Additionally, Tom has led the Reform and Renewal Coalition’s efforts at several General Conferences of The United Methodist Church and is intimately familiar with the processes that typically occur at a General Conference.

Tom may be reached at tlambrecht@globalmethodist.org. We invite you all to join us in prayer for Tom's appointment and takes on theses responsiblities.
