Legislative Committees and Hands-On Ministry Mark a Fruitful Second Day at the Global Methodist Church Convening General Conference

Day 2 of the Global Methodist Church’s convening General Conference was marked by a blend of legislative work, mission work, and evangelism as delegates, guests, and observers continued in the joy and unity of the gathering.

The day opened with legislative committees convening to discuss, pray over, and refine their respective petitions. Subcommittees worked meticulously, examining proposed changes in detail before forwarding them to the full committee. Petitions gaining enough support from the committee will move forward to the plenary session in the coming days, where all delegates will deliberate and make final decisions on their adoption.

In addition to legislative activities, some attendees participated in mission and evangelism opportunities that took them beyond the conference walls and into the heart of the local community.

One of the day’s highlights was a mission team at Alajuelita Methodist Church, where fifteen Global Methodists worked alongside Pastor Denis Aguero and four Costa Ricans on essential repairs. The team focused on repairing the roof and constructing a concrete wall to prevent flooding, ensuring that the church building remains a safe and welcoming space for worship.

Evangelism efforts were also impactful, with a group of fifteen Global Methodists and forty-eight Costa Ricans gathering at Tuetal MethodistChurch for a workshop on discipleship sharing. After the workshop, participants took to the streets, sharing their faith and praying with the local community, embodying the heart of the Church’s mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ.

Meanwhile, GM Church leaders gathered with honored guests to explore new relationships and places where the movement might expand.

As the day closed, it was clear both the legislative progress and the hands-on ministry were moving the GM Church forward, not just in structure and governance, but in its mission to witness boldly, bringing the light of Christ to the world.
